More About Digital Technology

Christoph Paccard's line of  digital carillon instruments and bell-ringing products was developed through a proprietary strategic partnership with an ISO-certified specialty electronics engineering firm.  All products are proudly made and manufactured in the United States. This partnership leverages the use of specialized expertise in digital audio sound and high level electronics engineering, in combination with Christoph Paccard's extensive experience with traditional needs and custom bell-ringing solutions. The result is a truly superior and innovative line of digital carillon instruments and bell-ringing products that have no equal on the market today.

The Manufacturing Process

We use a turnkey production process that relies on state-of-the-art computerized equipment operated in our manufacturing firm's pristine environment.  During the quality control phase, each product is rigorously tested and inspected using computerized X-Ray techniques, automated inline color vision inspections, failure analysis testing, environmental stress and vibration testing, computer-controlled functional testing, and other standard quality control processes. Finally, a Conformal Coating is applied that protects the circuitry from moisture, fungus, dust and corrosion caused by extreme environments. The coating prevents damage from board handling during construction, installation, and use, while also reducing mechanical stress and protecting against thermal shock.

How Sound is Created

Instantly creating first generation sound at each MIDI signal or keystroke, all of our instruments process digital audio with 24-bit data at 48 kHz sample rates to accommodate the wide dynamic range required for high-quality reproduction of carillon bells. The instruments ring out with a rich and beautiful sound in analog audio using balanced, studio level outputs for high-end signal quality. Between the carillon and the digital amplification system is a fiber-optic link that provides robust and noise-free communication. Using fiber also provides protection from lightning strikes because the cable contains no metal. The final result is the warm, full sound of the most pure and authentic cast bronze bells available.

User-Friendly, State-of-the-Art Technology

Christoph Paccard instruments are built to meet the highest standards of reliability, hardiness, upgradeability, and ease-of-use. Using state-of-the-art technology in their design, componentry, and manufacture, they are hardened against electrical surges and lightning strikes to current technological limits, and they provide flexibility in all aspects of their operation, whether manually or automatically controlled. The user interface features a color display with English text, combined with a user-friendly overlaid touch screen.
